People: SuperClubs Resorts is consolidating management positions in Jamaica
World News

SuperClubs Resorts is consolidating senior management positions among its hotels in Jamaica, specifically in Runaway Bay and Negril.

This restructuring move is aimed at potentially streamlining operations with hopes of creating a more cohesive management network in the region. The transition will not affect day-to-day operations at the resorts.

SuperClubs has 21 hotels open or under development in the Caribbean, Bahamas and Latin America. Kevin Levee, general manager of Hedonism III since its opening in 1999, will expand his supervisory role to include sister property Breezes Runaway Bay, replacing outgoing general manager Cheddy Parchment. Similarly, Grand Lido Negril Resort & Spa general manager, Roberto Pellicia, will now also serve as general manager of neighboring property Hedonism II.  Richard Bourke, who was appointed general manager at Hedonism II in 2003, will transfer from Negril and lead the team at Starfish Trelawny, replacing John Moorhead. People: Starwood Names New CEO
World News
After a five-month search, Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced that the former CEO of Coors Brewing Company, Frits van Paasschen, will join Starwood as its CEO, effective September 24. Bruce Duncan, who served as Starwood's interim CEO after Steven Heyer was dismissed, will continue as Starwood's chairman. This caps a long period of executive uncertainty for the multi-branded hotel company, whose brands include the W, Westin and St. Regis. Heyer was ousted after clashes with Starwood's board over his management style (allegations of sexual malfeasance later surfaced, which only exacerbated the situation). The hiring of van Paasschen, 46, is similar to the initial hiring of Heyer as they both are branding gurus, Heyer with the Coca-Cola Company, van Paasschen with Coors and Nike.
